Cake artist and owner of Heather Oliver Cake Design. Operating out of my licensed home bakery in Salt Lake City, Utah. 


I received my Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry from The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of SLC in 2013. Once graduated, I couldn’t deny that cakes were my passion and have been pursuing a career in decorating ever since. I gained experience working in multiple bakeries, learning a variety of skills along the way. 


Heather Oliver Cake Design kind of happened without me really knowing it. I had been doing cakes for friends and family at home for some time, and then I could barely keep up with the orders and my full time job. I knew if I had to choose, I didn't want to give up selling my own cakes. I love the whole process, from coming up with a design to baking the cakes, making the buttercream, to finally decorating it. It's a creation that is wholly mine.


Cakes are my medium and the way I get to share my creativity. While decorating is the most exciting part of the process, the baking is soothing and therapeutic. My hands do the work and my mind can relax. I believe that cake is meant to be eaten and should taste as good as it looks. So I focus largely on flavor, texture and new combinations to surprise and delight. All my cakes and fillings are made from scratch and iced in silky, all butter, Swiss meringue buttercream.
